Everything you need to know about the live adaptation of Snow White

Disney has been recreating some of their classic animated Disney movies lately. Some of these live adaptations include Beauty and the Beast, Alice Through the Looking Glass, Aladdin, Lady and the Tramp, Cinderella, and The Jungle Book.

Recently, some information on the live adaptation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by Disney has been revealed. Here is everything you need to know.

The cast

According to Deadline, Rachel Zegler will be playing the role of Disney’s new princess, Snow White. The director Marc Webb mentioned that she has “extraordinary vocal abilities”, and that “her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairy tale.”

Rachel Zegler shared a tweet following the announcement with the caption “homegirl with LOTS to catch up on.”

There has not been any detail about who will be playing the roles of the seven dwarfs. As mentioned previously, Marc Webb will be the director and Marc Platt will be the producer.

The soundtrack

As well as tracks of the old soundtrack many people grew up on, there will be new songs for this live adaptation composed by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The American songwriting duo previously worked on the soundtrack of La La Land and The Greatest Showman.

When will it be released?

Production of the film is set to begin in 2022, according to Deadline. No further information has been given for when it will premiere has been shared publicly. In the meantime, why not stream the original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on Disney +?
