The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have confirmed the pregnancy of their second child together.
“We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.” A spokesman for the couple said in a statement.
The news came in a statement on Valentine’s Day, followed by a black and white photograph, captured by friend and photographer, Misan Harriman.
“Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness this love story begin. And my friend, I am honoured to capture it grow. Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this joyous news!”
The sex and arrival of the second child is yet to be announcement by the couple. If they were to follow in the footsteps of one-year old Archie’s gender announcement, the public will be expected to wait until birth to discover the exciting news.
The pregnancy announcement comes less than three month’s after The Duke of Sussex’s, “The Losses We Share“, in the New York Times, having suffered a miscarriage last summer.
“I knew as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second.” She wrote. “Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experience by many but taken about by few… Despite the staggering commonality of this pain, the conversation remains taboo, riddled with (unwarranted) shame, and perpetuating a couple of solitary mourning.”
Unfortunately, this could be the last child for the couple. Speaking with Vogue for the September 2018 issue about the topic of children, “Not too many!” Harry told Dr. Jane Goodall. “Two, maximum!”
