Halsey has announced that she’s expecting her first child with screenwriter and film producer, Alev Aydin.
The news was announced via an Instagram post this evening with a series of photos captured by photographer, Sam Dameshek
“surprise! 🍼🌈👼🏻 Photos by @samdameshek”
Halsey, 26, tagged Aydin in the photograph who shared the image to his Instagram story with the caption, “❤️❤️.”
Halsey has always been praised for her openness by supporting those who struggle with women’s health, ultimately becoming an honest, raw and relatable public figure.
Previously, she has opened up about her miscarriage whilst on tour in 2015. “It was the most inadequate I’ve ever felt.” The singer told The Guardian in February 2020. “Here I am achieving this out-of-control life, and I can’t do the one thing I’m biologically put on earth to do. Then I have to go on stage and be this sex symbol of femininity and empowerment? It is demoralising.”
The Grammy nominee is also a victim to endometriosis, a long-term condition, affecting a woman’s reproductive system and known to have a potential affect on a woman’s fertility. Becoming a parent would be “a miracle,” the singer previously said.
She has previously undergone “multiple terrifying surgeries” to help treat her endometriosis and typically refers to herself as an “endo warrior.”
On social media accounts, Instagram and Twitter, Halsey has used the “🌈” emoji when referencing to her pregnancy announcement.
“My rainbow 🌈,” the singer has tweeted.
This reference symbolises a “rainbow baby”, a term for those who have previously lost a child due to miscarriage.
